“Every year again…” – The expert inspection and assessment of personal fall protection equipment

Posted on 11  November 2024.

Before and after each use, our specially trained rope access technicians check the condition of the personal fall protection equipment with a critical eye. After all, when working at heights, safety depends on the condition of the climbing equipment, among other things. This includes much more than just a rope: harnesses, carabiners, pulleys and rope clamps as well as various aids not only have to be hauled up the mountain and used correctly, but also handled with care.

Once a year, the LGA Institut für Umweltgeologie und Altlasten GmbH inspects all climbing equipment to ensure that it is in perfect condition. If a piece of equipment does not meet the strict test criteria, it is discarded and replaced with new equipment.

To obtain or acquire the qualification, colleagues Simone Pflaum and Joschka Wischer successfully took part in the “Expert training according to DGUV 312-906” at the Krah GmbH training center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on November 5 and 6, 2024.

We are delighted with the consistent and diligent performance of Simone Pflaum, who has now been inspecting the fall protection equipment in the company for six years. We are also pleased to welcome Joschka Wischer to the team of DGUV 312-906 experts.

If such a bad condition of the rope sheath and core is not recognized
in time, there is a risk to life!
