Man unterscheidet die vier Gruppen&nbsp;<strong>Glaswolle<\/strong>&nbsp;(wei\u00dfe oder gelbe lange Fasern),&nbsp;<strong>Steinwolle<\/strong>&nbsp;(dunklere, gr\u00fcngelbe Fasern),&nbsp;<strong>Schlackenwolle<\/strong>&nbsp;(dunkle, br\u00e4unliche Fasern; wenig verbreitet) und&nbsp;<strong>Keramikfasern<\/strong>&nbsp;(wei\u00df; Hochtemperaturwolle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die KMF wurden und werden in erster Linie zur W\u00e4rme- und Schalld\u00e4mmung eingesetzt (u. a. im Dach-, Decken- und Wandbereich, in L\u00fcftungs- und Heizanlagen), teils auch als Ersatz f\u00fcr asbesthaltige Produkte. Vor 1996 produzierte KMF werden als&nbsp;<strong>\u201eAlte Mineralwollen\u201c<\/strong>&nbsp;bezeichnet. Diese k\u00f6nnen lungeng\u00e4ngige Fasern mit geringer biologischer Abbaubarkeit freisetzen und sind daher als krebserzeugend eingestuft.
