Typical explosive compounds (STV and PTV) and warfare agents - a special "chemical zoo"
When the first old armaments sites began to be investigated in the mid-1980s, these were the former large TNT plants in Stadtallendorf, Hessisch-Lichtenau and Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Over time, historical research into the explosives and their starting and degradation materials, as well as into chemical warfare agents and irritants at other sites, yielded a broad spectrum of chemical compounds far removed from the typical suspected substances of contaminated site investigations. The investigation of such suspected sites therefore requires specialised knowledge of the occurrence and distribution of the substances and their effects on humans, groundwater and ecology.
Inspection centre for old armaments and investigation centre
Our experts from the "Inspection Centre for Legacy Armaments" investigate suspected legacy armaments. They are not only qualified to draw up investigation concepts for suspected contaminated sites and military properties, but can also carry out external monitoring during investigations and act as senior experts. Sampling is carried out by the employees of our own investigation centre. It is authorised in accordance with §18 of the Federal Soil Protection Act and the Ordinance on Experts and Investigation Bodies for Soil Protection in Bavaria (VSU). It is also accredited for the sampling of environmental samples and is recognised by the BAM/OFD-H for sampling on federal properties.
