Shortly before the end of the year, LGA rope access technicians Simon Landgraf, Simone Pflaum, Carina Schmitz, and Joschka Wischer completed their annual refresher training in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This mandatory training is essential for certified rope access technicians. As Level 2 technicians, they are expected to master advanced vertical and horizontal access techniques, advanced rescue techniques, knot and anchoring techniques, the use of pulley systems, and basic knowledge of risk assessment and site safety. The LGA team regularly inspects rocks and protective structures against alpine natural hazards at great heights using rope access techniques.

Selected topics were reviewed and practiced through theoretical sessions and practical exercises. There was also room to address special cases, such as rescue procedures involving significant weight differences, and to try out various techniques. We thank VDBS instructor Gregor Braun for the successful event and the rope access technicians from the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland for the collegial atmosphere.
