From October 16–17, 2025, the 27th Geoforum Umhausen took place in Niederthai (Imst District, Austria), organized by the Geoforum Tirol Association.
This multidisciplinary conference brought together experts from geology, geotechnics, natural hazard management, and related fields to exchange insights on current topics, research findings, and ongoing projects.
We look back on two inspiring days filled with engaging presentations, stimulating discussions, and many new impressions.
We took the opportunity to present, together with Tobias Gebhard from the Engineering Geology department, on the topic of hazard and risk analysis of rockfall and blockfall in the Upper Wiesent Valley of the Franconian Alb.
We greatly appreciated the lively exchange with colleagues from our neighboring country and are returning home with valuable new impulses. A heartfelt thank you to the organizers for a successful event—we’re already looking forward to next time and will gladly return!
